Until recently, I would never have called West Kensington a foodie’s destination. It has always felt like a no-man’s land full of lovely old houses, Queen’s Club and wedged between the yummy mummy zones of Fulham and Brook Green and the conference goers at Earl’s Court and Kensington Olympia. But that was before I discovered a proper diamond in the rough, Mamma Anna & Co.

I left the class feeling suitably full, and more importantly like I had actually learnt something. But the most surprising thing was still to come when later on that evening, at a rather drunken house party; our Pasqualina was eaten more quickly than a tipsy-food staple, Dominos pizza.

Mamma Anna’s is a wonderful little deli. Run by Anna and her children Fabrizio and Guilia with the help of award-winning sommelier Marco, it’s a real family affair. They chat in a mix of Italian and English, telling little anecdotes about life in Italy and the food there – me jealous? Of course not… get me on a plane now.

Mamma Anna & Co is a bustling family business that shines brightly among the monochrome chain restaurants that now dominate the food scene and is tucked away somewhat unobtrusively and modestly on Charleville Road in West Kensington.

If only you could have two mammas. If you could, we’d pick Anna for Mama no.2. Not only has she got the sweetest smile and speaks incredible English in a fantastic Italian accent, but she can seriously cook. And she’s happy to teach you.

Mamma Anna & Co is much more than just a deli – this family-run food shop on Charleville Road in West Kensington is a celebration of authentic Italian food, lovingly created by Anna and her talented sons and daughter.

The Italian deli Mamma Anna & Co showcases surprisingly simple but definitely delicious vegetarian food at its best. On display in the beautiful open-plan shop you’ll find fresh pasta and traditional Italian dishes are available to take away for lunch, dinner or just a cheeky snack.

All in all, a proper Italian dinner - which we served with proper (English!) conversation on a Monday night. This food is too good to waste in front of the television…

For a true Italian experience, get yourself to Mamma Anna & Co.

Och maten? En sexrätters middag med spännande italienska rätter, presenterade av en Fabrizio i sitt esse. Som hemma hos Mamma Anna i Milano – fast med servitörer.
— Petter Larsson, Aftonbladet
Shops and restaurants worth seeking out in West Kensington include Mamma Anna & Co in Charleville Road, an innovative Italian deli, dining club and cookery school.
— Anthea Masey, Evening Standard
I cant recommend Mamma Anna & Co enough. If you fancy cooking up an Italian storm, make sure you book your class place, or if you are super lazy like me, then just pop in for one Anna made earlier.

The idea is utterly perfect for busy worker bees tired after long days and for a healthy takeaway option!
